    Hi Greg.

I am assisting a company that has deployed an Oracle Lite application to about 55 sites and has problems in synchronization - they miss data frequently and updates on the source data get overwritten in the next cycle of synch.

They use Lite 9i and synch is an explicit user initiated process here. They have extensive procedures to ensure data accuracy but users are complaining like hell and their remote support centre is all churned about every weekend when the syncs need to happen.

They do not want to simply go into an upgrade to 10g R3 because they are afraid what it might do to a live system.

I am exploring the possibility of a third party ETL tool that could connect to the ODB and extract the data. The tool runs on a Linux box and the ODB is on Windows XP Pro machine.

Would you have knowledge on a JDBC driver on Linux that will allow you to connect to Oracle Lite ODB on Windows?

What you need to look at is the snapshots for all the tables that they are synchronizing. Which tables are losing data? Do those tables have the correct table weight? Does anything end up in the error queue? The business process really needs to be looked at to see why they are losing data. Once that has been identified, then you can go about fixing the publication items that are causing the grief.
