Guitar Hero and Rock Band

I did it. I bought Rock Band for the PS3 and it is definitely worth it! I have had Guitar Hero II and III for a while now, but just recently I got to playing them again. I will be the first to admit that I have no rhythm. I can fuck up clapping to the beat of a song. So that fact that I can play most of GH and RB on medium for the guitar is a huge step for me. I think if I practiced a little more I could make the jump to hard, but I am not nearly ready for that. On the drums, I am on easy right now and I find it harder to get use to then the guitar. Singing, forget about it. I suck moose cock on singing. I can’t even go into detail of the level of suckage that I am probably at for singing. The whole reason I don’t sing during the national anthem at hockey games is because I am sure someone will probably punch me in the face. So, I only sing when no one is around.

Likes
I like the selection in both games and a little more in GH because it has been around longer. I haven’t downloaded any of the music for RB at the Playstation Store, but I am pretty sure there is a decent collection.

Dislikes
The fact that the guitars are cross-platform incompatible. Right now I have GH for the PS2 and RB for the PS3. But I was thinking of buying the newing GH games for the PS3 and using my RB guitar, but nope! They are not compatible. How fucked is that? My other dislikes with the guitars are that on RB, the buttons are narrower and closer together then they are for GH. I am forever fat fingering the buttons. But I am sure I will get use to it. And in GH, I hate the clicking for the strumming and I find the buttons rigid. I should mention that I use the TAC Freedom V wireless controller and not the wired controller that comes with the package.

In the end, I think both games are worth their price and I am sure I will get many hours of game play out of it.

Metallica singing for Black Sabbath

Here is Metallica singing Hole in the Sky and Iron Man for Black Sabbath’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame. Metallica has a great sound. I saw them live in Moncton back in 1993. My parents got me the tickets while I was still in High School. I think from the start to the end of the show, I had a smile from ear-to-ear. My son really likes them too. When I drive him to school in the mornings, we are either listening to Metallica or Black Sabbath. It’s awesome!

Elton John doesn’t think American Bands look gay enough

Who gives a rats ass? So today’s dirty looking bands look more like homeless teenagers ready to squeegee your windshield than the look like some fruity rock star. Big fucking deal. I can do without frilly hats.

Yahoo News – Attention, rock ‘n’ rollers. Elton John is sick of your tattoos and piercings. John, who will perform at the third Fashion Rocks concert Sept. 7 at Radio City Music Hall, says he’d like American bands to adopt the cutting-edge, glam-rock style made popular by his peers.

“It’s been a thing the British have always been very good at, with Bowie, myself, T.Rex, the Who, Queen. … We all embraced that side of it,” John, 59, tells Fashion Rocks magazine, on newsstands Aug. 8.

“And I think it’s good that some American bands are beginning to do that, but it’s still very rare for bands to make a real effort. So when you get groups like The Killers and Scissor Sisters who come along, it’s thrilling. I’m so over the tattoos and the T-shirts and rings through the noses. It’s not pretty, it’s not pleasant, it’s not exciting. Please stop it now.”

N Sync is gay

Well, at least Lance Bass is.

CNN.com – Lance Bass: I’m gay – Jul 26, 2006
Lance Bass, band member of ‘N Sync, says he’s gay and in a “very stable” relationship with a reality show star.

Bass, who formed ‘N Sync with Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick, tells People magazine that he didn’t earlier disclose his sexuality because he didn’t want to affect the group’s popularity.

Bass said that he would have come out of the closet earlier, but everyone already knew.

Top 10 Bands

Here is a list of my top 10 favourite bands.

  1. Metallica
  2. Nine Inch Nails
  3. Tool
  4. Black Sabbath
  5. Alice In Chains
  6. Ministry
  7. White Zombie
  8. Rage Against the Machine
  9. Soundgarden
  10. Megadeth
  1. Metallica – If it wasn’t for Metallica, I would have spent my Junior High and High School years listening to MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice.
  2. Nine Inch Nails – Trent Reznor’s albums are more orchestra than industrial rock. Unlike most albums, where you listen to a track and say to yourself, “that doesn’t belong here”, Reznor’s songs can easily be associated to an album from the songs style and mood.
  3. Tool – Reznor and Tool would have to battle it out for who has the cooler lyrics. I remember watching the Sober video for the first time and saying to myself, “These guys are fucked up! I need to own everything they have!”
  4. Black Sabbath – I didn’t start listening to Sabbath until I had already listened to Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, and Megadeth. I have listened to tribute albums and even though they are good, they don’t even come close to the original
  5. Alice In Chains – These guys provided some of the best driving music, ever! “Them Bones” and “We Die Young” are the top of the list for car music.
  6. Ministry – I stumbled onto their music by accident. I think someone forgot a dubbed tape at my place so I placed it in my walkman. I didn’t know whether I should bang my head or dance! My first experience with industrial music blew my mind
  7. White Zombie – I read somewhere that Rob Zombie actually doesn’t know how to write music. He would hum the guitar licks and the guitarist would pick up on it and then make the music. I also read that he use to watch B Horror movies while listening to his newly created music and that is the way he came up with the lyrics. Either way, his music goes great to any horror classic.
  8. Rage Against the Machine – To those of you that don’t know, Rage provides the closing tracks to The Matrix, and The Matrix Reloaded. Not a big fan of rap except for maybe Public Enemy, these guys provided all the rap I needed.
  9. Soundgarden – For most bands, you talk about their new albums and how they don’t compare to their previous albums. Soundgarden just kept getting better and better and then they quit! Now Rage and Soundgarden have come together to form Audioslave. I like Audioslave, but they don’t compare to Rage or Soundgarden.
  10. Megadeth – I can’t tell you why I like these guys so much. Dave Mustaine isn’t a good singer at all but there is something about his music I could always get into. Like Soundgarden, there music use to get better and better every release, but sadly, since the album “Countdown to Extinction” they are shadows of their former selves.
