You have to be real careful using the pressure washer on the logs. I and a few of my neighbors have used angle grinders. I can only find 80 grit pads and would like something finer. I have also applied chemicals to give it a try. I then use the pressure washer to wash off the chemical. The best solution I heard for stripping logs is a corn blaster.

The stain on most log homes is probably Cetol 1 and then Cetol 2-3. Cetol 1 is a primer and then Cetol 2-3 is the additional stain with a wax coating on it giving the logs a nice polished shine.

I should be done most of the work on the house this year and next year should just be regular maintenance and I will be able to sit back and enjoy a little more.

I know someone living in a log house and he stripped them with a pressure washer. But then he learned it was a mistake. He would up having to hand sand all the logs. Something to do with the pressure washer lifting the fibers of the wood and how it effects the special "log home" stain needed on the house.
